Philadelphia, Pa. (4/23/25) The Dominican University New York baseball team split their CACC doubleheader this afternoon with the Tigers of Holy Family University.
Dominican won game one by a score of 7-6 but fell in game two by a score of 12-1.
The Chargers, #9 in the NCBWA East Region Poll, now hold an overall record of 30-15 and a CACC record of 24-8.
Game One: The Chargers took game one in comeback fashion by a score of 7-6 after a three-run homer in the eighth inning by senior catcher Ty Gilligan lifted DU over the Tigers.
Dominican finished with 15 total hits with Juan Peralta and Gilligan combining for seven hits.
Peralta went 4-5 including a double and drove in one RBI. Gilligan finished 3-5 while leading the team in RBIs with four.
David Knepper and Erick Diaz each finished with two hits, Diaz added a triple. Kevin Hirsch added a double while Jaden Maia and Ian Labrador each drove in one run.
Samuel Herrera started on the mound and went 5.1 innings before being relieved by Jedadiah Trudeau who tossed 3.2 and earned the win.
Game Two: The Tigers bounced back in game two as they defeated the Chargers 12-1 to earn a split.
DU starting pitcher Anthony Leak suffered the loss after only lasting 3.1 innings.
The Tigers jumped in front in the first after a grand slam by Andy Rivera and then added three runs in the second highlighted by a Nick Lombardo two-RBI single.
A five run inning in the fourth extended the lead to 12-1 and they later closed out the win.
Anthony Nigro drove in the only run of the game for Dominican in the second inning with an RBI-single.
The Chargers return to action Friday afternoon to begin a huge four game series with CACC north division rival Post University.
