CHARGERS SPLIT WITH COUGARS

Pomona, N.Y. (4/30/21) The Dominican College baseball team split a conference doubleheader with the Cougars of Caldwell University.

The Chargers now hold a record of 14-11 (8-9 CACC) and the Cougars now stand at 9-13 (7-11 CACC).

Game One: The Chargers opened the doubleheader with a 26-1 win. Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) earned the win to improve to 5-1 on the season. Diaz-Lambert recorded eight strikeouts over five innings pitched.

The Chargers scored 15 runs over the first three innings and then added one run in the fourth inning and a big ten runs in the fifth inning.

Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.), Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.), and Bobby Garbuio (Chappaqua, N.Y.) each hit home runs in the win. Colon finished the game with four RBIs. Meza added two doubles and finished the game with five RBIs. Garbuio finished the game with three RBIs.

Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) also added three RBIs. Pavlos Papoutsakis (Westbury, N.Y.) and Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) drove in two RBIs each. Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) and Carmine Giordano (New Rochelle, N.Y.) each added one RBI.

Game Two: The Cougars bounced in game two over DC by a score of 24-9. Elias Negron recorded the win to improve to 1-0 on the season.

Jack Zosulis hit three home runs and drove in a team-high eight RBIs. Frank Lehmann and Travis Brunson each hit one home run. Brunson finished with four RBIs and Lehmann finished with one RBI.

Louis Rullan added four hits including two doubles and finished with six RBIs. Jalen March added two RBIs and Kyle Richards added one RBI.

For the Chargers, Carmine Giordano hit a solo homer. Brian Sanders, Richard Paulino, and Arthur Quinones each hit a double. Paulino finished the game with three RBIs. Bobby Garbuio and Arthur Quinones added two RBIs each. Sanders drove in one RBI.

The Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, May 2nd when they host Felician University for a conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 3:00 PM.
