The contest was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when DC put two runs on the board after a RBI double to right center from shortstop Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) and Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) was hit by-a-pitch with the bases loaded to score another run.
The fifth inning saw the Chargers added four more runs to pull ahead 6-0. Bryan McGuire (Herkimer, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch and designated hitter Mark Vargas (Bronx, N.Y.) later hit a three-run blast to left field.
Dominican tacked on three more runs in the seventh stanza with the first run crossing the plate on a Cougar throwing error. Vargas picked up his fourth RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly ball to center field and Crispyn followed with his first collegiate home run as he hit a ball over the center field fence to extend the lead to 9-0.
In the ninth frame, Crispyn began the scoring with an RBI infield single and Brendan Woodruff (Cincinnatti, Ohio) followed with a bases loaded walk. Catcher Edward O'Neil (Madison, Conn.) reached on a fielder's choice that scored another run and McGuire produced an infield single to plate the 13th Charger run en route to the 13-4 win.
Crispyn went 3-4 in the game with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Vargas finished with a career high four RBIs, while Alonso added two hits and scored four runs.
Christopher Potts (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded the win (2-1) in six innings of work, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and six strikeouts.
Andrew Morano (Clintondale, N.Y.) came in to pitch the final three innings, striking out four and allowing one hit.
DC is scheduled to travel to non-conference opponent, the College of Saint Rose, this coming Sunday.
