SEEDINGS SET FOR 2012 CACC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

New Haven CT (5/3/12) The seeds and match ups for the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship, which will be played on May 8-12, have been finalized.

New Haven CT (5/3/12) The seeds and match ups for the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Championship, which will be played on May 8-12, have been finalized.

The tournament will begin on Tuesday, May 8 with a pair of single-elimination games, which will be played on campus sites.

No. 6 seed Caldwell (12-28, 9-11 CACC) will travel to face No. 3 seed Dominican (23-24, 13-7 CACC) while No. 4 seed Bloomfield (21-16, 13-7 CACC) will host No. 5 seed Nyack (23-22, 11-9 CACC).  Both games are slated for a 3:00 p.m. (ET) first pitch on Tuesday.

Tuesday's winners will advance to the double-elimination phase of the championship, which will be held on May 10-12 and hosted by Wilmington University.  

Thursday's games will be played at Wilson Field on the campus of Wilmington University. No. 1 seed Felician (25-20, 16-4 CACC) will begin the action when it faces the Bloomfield/Nyack winner in a 12:00 p.m. (ET) start.  No. 2 seed Wilmington (29-16, 14-6 CACC) will follow with a contest against the Dominican/Caldwell winner at 3:00 p.m. (ET).

Friday's and Saturday's games will take place at Frawley Stadium, home of the Carolina League's Wilmington Blue Rocks, a class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.

Friday's game times are slated for 12:00 p.m. (ET), 3:00 p.m. (ET) and 6:00 p.m. (ET).

Saturday's CACC Championship Game is scheduled for a first pitch of 11:00 a.m. (ET).  If necessary, a second game will be played at approximately 2:00 p.m. (ET).

The winner of the 2012 CACC Baseball Championship earns an automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

Wilmington University captured the 2011 CACC Baseball Title and has won two of the last three overall, dating back to 2009.

 Game 1 - (#6) Caldwell (12-28, 9-11) at (#3) Dominican (23-24, 13-7) - 3:00 p.m.
Game 2 -  (#5) Nyack (23-22, 11-9) at (#4) Bloomfield (21-16, 13-7) - 3:00 p.m.

 

Thursday, May 10 (Double Elimination at Wilmington's Wilson Field)
 Game 3-(#1) Felician (25-20, 16-4) vs. Nyack/Bloomfield - 12:00 p.m.

Game 4-(#2) Wilmington (29-16, 14-6) vs. Caldwell/Dominican - 3:00 p.m.
