CHARGERS BASEBALL SWEEP BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/28/12) The Dominican College baseball team swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from the visiting Deacons of Bloomfield College this afternoon in games played at Veteran's Memorial Park. DC took game one, 5-3 and won the nightcap, 7-5 to improve to 21-14 overall and 13-7 in conference play.

DC took game one, 5-3 and won the nightcap, 7-5 to improve to 22-24 overall and 13-7 in conference play.
Game One: The Chargers trailed 1-0 after one and a half innings, but DC came back with a five-run bottom stanza to take a 5-1 lead. Two runs scored on Deacon errors, while Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) and Oliver Christensen (Coral Springs, FL) both had RBI singles. Tyler Sadawske (Waukesha, WI) reached on a fielder's choice which scored a run.
Bloomfield got two runs back in the eighth inning for the 5-3 final.
Christensen went 3-4 in the game, while Clark added two hits.
Senior Justin Moore* (Wantagh, NY) improved to 4-0 in eight innings of work, allowing three runs on four hits and two strikeouts.
Freshman Matthew Festa (Staten Island, NY) got his third save of the season as he pitched the ninth inning.
Game Two: Dominican went up 1-0 in the third inning as Sadawske had an RBI single to left field and added a run in the fourth on a passed ball to go ahead 2-0. BC got a run back in the fifth, but the Chargers added to the lead in the bottom stanza with two runs as Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) hit a big two-run double to left center field.
In the sixth inning, Robert Alonso (Kingston, NY) had an RBI sacrifice bunt to plate a run and Christensen followed with an RBI single to right field to extend the lead to 6-1.
BC added a run in the seventh inning and two in the eighth to cut the deficit 6-4.
Alonso gave the Chargers some breathing room in the eighth with a two out RBI double down the right field line to make the score 7-4. Bloomfield scored a run in the ninth for the final 7-5 score.
Christensen and Clark each had three hits in the contest.
Starter Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) picked up the win (3-3) in seven and 2/3 innings of work, allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and seven strikeouts.
Nicholas Kevlin (Conway, NH) got his fourth save of the season in 1 1/3 innings and allowed one one on one hit.
Dominican returns to action on Wednesday when they host Molloy College.
