Nyack, NY (11/22/10) The Nyack College athletic
community mourns the loss of cross country runner Anne Elisabeth
Jackson who died Wednesday evening at the age of 21. A senior
music education major, Anne was an extraordinary student athlete
with a 3.97 GPA. Musically, she was known as an extremely
gifted singer who was an avid fan of opera.
Head Cross Country Coach Wendy Muckell shared that “Anne was
a Warrior in every sense of the word. She worked hard, pushed
past pain, strived to be the best, and ultimately met each goal she
set for herself. She was an encouragement to both her team
and her coaches. Anne will forever be remembered as someone
who lived each moment to the fullest. We have heavy hearts
but our spirits are uplifted that one day we will join our
beautiful friend and sister in glory.”
Anne showed continual improvement this fall on the cross country
course, shaving as much as four minutes off her time from the start
of year.
“Every time I would see Anne she was smiling,”
remembers Director of Athletics Keith Davie. “It says a
lot about her heart and Who was in it. We will continue to
send our love and prayers to her family during this time of
sadness.”
The Jackson family will be holding a memorial service in upstate
New York. The Nyack College community will have a memorial
service for Anne Jackson on Wednesday, December 1 at 10 AM in
Pardington Hall.
Dominican College extends their thoughts and prayers to the Jackson Family and the Nyack College athletic community.
