Orangeburg, NY (4/20/12) The Dominican College softball squad, currently ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division II East Region Rankings, took two games from Caldwell College, currently ranked sixth, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at the DC Softball Field.

Game One: The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second inning, but the Lady Chargers put two runs on the board in the bottom stanza on a sacrifice fly ball off the bat of Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) and an RBI single through the right side from Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) to go up 2-1.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the fourth on the solo home run to right-center field from Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) to go up 3-1. Caldwell scored their second run of the game in the sixth for the 3-2 final score.
Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) picked up the complete game victory to improve to 19-6 overall, allowing two runs on six hits. She also went 2-3 at the plate.
Game Two: Caldwell scored a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead and Dominican answered back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs as a Cougar error allowed Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) to reach base and two runs to score to take a 2-1 lead.
DC added a run in the third inning on an RBI double to left center from Childers and scored three runs in the fifth for a 6-1 lead. In the fifth, Childers and Berzak had RBI singles and a Cougar fielding error allowed a second run to score on Berzak's hit. Caldwell scored two runs in the top of the sixth for the final 6-3 Lady Charger victory.
Right-handed pitcher Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) improved to 13-8 on the season in the victory, allowing three runs on nine hits and four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings of work.
Childers got her second save of the season as she came in to score the final out of the game.
Deidre Jeppson* (Sylmar, CA) and Childers each had two hits in the win.
With the victories, Dominican improves to 32-14 overall and 23-1 in conference play, while Caldwell falls to 35-12 overall and 19-5 in the CACC.
Dominican is set to be back in action tomorrow as they host Philadelphia University in CACC action on Senior Day at the DC Softball Field.
