Bio
Coach Bithorn is entering his second season as the pitching coach on the Charger staff.
Under Bithorn’s guidance last season, the Dominican College pitching staff led the CACC in strikeouts per nine innings and was top 20 nationally in NCAA Division II. Senior LHP Ryan Calby was named CACC Honorable Mention and finished second in the conference with 8 wins. Calby continued his his career and went on to play for the Brisbee Blue of the Independent Professional Pecos League. Junior RHP Anthony Pastrana finished the season #8 nationally in strikeouts per nine innings with 11.8 per nine innings.
Coach Bithorn spent the last two summers coaching in the highly competitive Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) located in upstate New York. Bithorn served as bench coach for the Cooperstown Hawkeyes (2013) and the Glens Falls Golden Eagles (2014). In the upcoming 2015 season, he will be the pitching coach for the Amsterdam Mohawks also in the PGCBL.
His collegiate coaching experience began as an assistant xoach at St. Thomas University (FL) in 2009-2010 where the team finished in the Top 25 nationally in NAIA. Prior to that he served as Coach and VP of Player Recruitment for the Florida Pokers Baseball Organization and was Director of Baseball Operations at the Coral Gables Recreation Center.
Bithorn began his collegiate playing career at Ulster County Community College in Stone Ridge, NY where he earned All- Conference and All-Region Honors and finished in the top ten nationally in Earned Run Average. From there, he moved on to NAIA Bacone College in Muskogee, OK. While at Bacone, he was recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week three times as well as RRAC Newcomer of the year. He helped lead the team to their first ever conference championship and top 25 NAIA national ranking in 2007.
Coach Bithorn is a native of Miami, FL and graduated from American High School. He has participated in several camps nationwide and was previously involved in several community service projects in South Florida.
Bithorn currently resides in New City, NY located in Rockland County.
Coach Bithorn is the great nephew of legendary Puerto Rican baseball player, Hiram Bithorn who was the first Puerto Rican to play in Major League Baseball in 1943 for the Chicago Cubs.
