Rutherford, N.J. (10/28/17) The Dominican College women's volleyball team topped The Lincoln University and fell to Felician University in a tri-match held today in Job Gymnasium on the campus of Felician University. In the opening match, the Lady Chargers fell to Felician University, 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 13-25), but they rallied to earn their first win of the season over the Lions, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21).

With the split, Dominican improves to 1-25 overall and 0-15 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).

Match One:  In the opening match against the Golden Falcons, the Lady Chargers played a tough first set, despite the 25-17 setback.  As a team they had a .321 attack percentage for the set, tallying 12 kills.  Sophomore Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.) led DC with seven kills and a .400 attack percentage.

Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and rookie Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) each had six kills in the loss, while Boyd sported a .417 attack percentage and a team best 16 assists and Knopf added eight defensive digs.

Libero Natalia Perez (Prosper, Texas) produced a match best 14 digs.

Match Two:  Once again, Dominican played well in the opening set as they compiled a team .308 attack percentage.  A Napoleon kill capped off a set opening 7-2 run for the Lady Chargers and they would lead by as many as seven points in the set en route to the 25-21 win, ended by a solo block from sophomore Malia Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.).

Set two was tied at 19-all when a kill from Knopf and a service ace from Napoleon began a 6-1 run, closed out by back-to-back service aces from Boyd for the 25-20 win and 2-0 match lead.

The decisive third set was also tied at 19-19, when Knopf recorded a kill and Boyd followed with three service points to put DC up 23-19 and two points away from the match win.  A kill from freshman Ramiza Lekovic (Florida, N.Y.) and a Lion attack error would eventually give the Lady Chargers the 25-21 win and 3-0 match victory.

Napoleon had a team high 10 kills and .286 attack percentage, to go along with five service aces and nine digs.

Knopf added eight kills and nine digs, while Mykalee Chambers (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded seven kills.

Boyd finished with a career high 29 assists.

The Lady Chargers return home this coming Tuesday night as they host a CACC North Division match against Concordia College on Coach Baxter Court.  Match time is slated for 7pm in the Hennessy Center as the team will host their annual Dig Pink Game.
