VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN TRI-MATCH AT NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Old Westbury, N.Y. (11/5/16)  The Dominican College women's volleyball team fell in a non-conference tri-match hosted by regionally ranked New York Institute of Technology this afternoon.  DC was tripped up by Mercy College, 3-2 (25-13, 18-25, 24-26, 25-16, 9-15), and fell to NYIT, the top team in the East Region, 3-0 (9-25, 15-25, 13-25).

Match One:  Dominican had their best team attack percentage in the first set as they used a .407 percentage to take home a 25-13 win.  DC led 12-9 when the team went on a 5-0 run led by four service points by senior Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) to increase the lead to 17-9.

The Mavericks rebounded to take sets two and three, but the Lady Chargers forced a fifth set when they went on a 7-2 tear to take the fourth set, 25-16, and tie the match at 2-2.

Freshman outside hitter Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had a career high 21 kills in the loss and added 18 digs.

Yeoman finished with 15 kills and two service aces, while Kera Dexter (Selah, Wash.) recorded a career high 45 assists.

Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) had 24 assists, while Alexa Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) had 23 digs and eight kills.

Match Two:  Williams led all Lady Charger attackers with six kills in the three set loss to the regionally ranked Bears.

Dexter finished with 14 assists, while Kim had a team high 12 digs.

Dominican (4-24) will host Felician University this coming Tuesday night as the team will celebrate Senior Night on Coach Baxter Court.
