VOLLEYBALL LOSES TWO AT STONEHILL SKYHAWKS INVITATIONAL

Easton, Mass. (9/10/16)  The Dominican College women's volleyball team lost two matches today in the final day of the Stonehill Skyhawks Invitational.  DC lost their first match to Saint Michael's College and then fell to Stonehill College.

Match One:  In the their opening match of the day, Dominican fell to Saint Michael's College, 19-25, 19-25, 12-25.  Sophomore outside hitter Alexa Williams (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the team with six kills and added nine digs.

Gabrielle Napoleon (Springfield, Pa.) and Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) each had five kills, while Knopf added five digs.

Setter Kera Dexter* (Selah, Wash.) recorded 23 assists and 11 digs, while Angela Kim (Marlton, N.J.) had a team leading 12 digs in the loss.

Match Two:  In the final match of the tournament, host Stonehill College, upended the Lady Chargers, 3-0 (12-25, 16-25, 16-25).

Senior Cortney Yeoman (Glenn Dale, Md.) had a team leading nine kills.

Napoleon added eight kills, while Dexter finished with 21 assists.

Kim recorded a team best 14 digs.

With the losses, Dominican falls to 1-7 on the season.

For her efforts, Dexter was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Chargers return home on Friday night in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opening match against Concordia College.
