DOMINICAN VOLLEYBALL UPENDS MOLLOY COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (9/15/10) The Dominican College women's volleyball team defeated the visiting Lions from Molloy College, 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 27-25) this evening in a non-conference match held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

Tied 17-17 in the first set, Dominican went on a 4-0 tear to take a 21-17 lead and went on to outscore Molloy 5-2 during final seven points to win set one, 25-20.
Molloy rebounded to take the second set, 25-19 as they started off the set with a 10-5 edge. DC answered back to cut the lead to 11-10, but the Lions roared back with an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 18-12 and go on to the eventual 25-16 set win.
Dominican held a 12-10 advantage in set three when they scored five points to the a lone Lion point to extend their lead to 17-11. Senior Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY) later had four straight service points to give DC a 21-13 lead and they went on the the 25-19 set win and 2-1 match lead.
The fourth set was battle as there was never more than a three point lead. The match was tied 23-23, when a DC attack error put Molloy at set point, but senior Kerianne Dudley (Nanuet, NY) recorded a kill to knot the set again at 24-24. Later tied again at 25-25, a Molloy service error and a kill by setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) gave the Lady Chargers the 27-25 set win and 3-1 match victory.
Sophomore outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the Lady Chargers with 14 kills. Dudley finished the night with seven kills, while Ranger tallied 26 assists and six kills. Freshman Randi Garrett (Rockledge, FL) had five kills and libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) led the team with 14 defensive digs.
With the victory Dominican improves to 5-7 on the season.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Friday night when they host Caldwell College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at 7pm on Coach Baxter Court.
