Women's Soccer

GEORIGAN COURT UNIVERSITY SOCCER EDGES LADY CHARGERS 

Blauvelt, NY (10/20/07)     The Georgian Court University Lions defeated host Dominican College Lady Chargers, 1-0 in double overtime in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field. 

In the 107th minute of action, freshman Amy VanBlarcom (Glen Rock, NJ) got the game winning goal as she got the pass from Meghan Kielt (Brick, NJ) and headed the ball into the top left corner of the net.

Lady Charger starting keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had five saves before leaving the game with an shoulder injury in the 73rd minute of regulation.  Freshman Veronica Johnson (Mahopac, NY) had four saves in 36:35 minutes of action.

With the win, GCU improves to 12-7 overall and 8-2 in the CACC, while DC falls to 6-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Felician College in a CACC game.  Game time is 7pm at Tryon Field in Rutherford, NJ.
