LADY CHARGERS SOCCER EDGE WILMINGTON WILDCATS, 4-3
Blauvelt, NY (9/8/07) Junior forward Marie LaMaida (New Hyde Park, NY) netted the game winning goal at 82:56 off the pass by freshman Jane Dorsey (Ocean Grove, NJ) to lift Dominican College to a 4-3 victory over Wilmington College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.
LaMaida scored the game's first goal at 10:45 off the pass by senior Jen Ditzig (Brick, NJ). The Wildcats would tie the game at 1-1 at 34:03 when senior Begum Malali (Galloway, NJ) took a pass by Kirsten Stallone (Elkton, MD) and drilled it by the DC keeper.
Stallone and Malali opened up the second half for Wilmington with two straight goals within the first five minutes to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.
LaMaida brought DC within one at the 54:05 mark off a second assist by Ditzig. Junior Angela Correia (Elizabeth, NJ) tied the game at 3-3 at 59:11 on an unassisted goal.
LaMaida completed the hat trick with the game winner
off the dish by Dorsey to lift DC to the 4-3
victory.
Dominican outshot the Wildcats, 13-10. Wildcat keeper Chrissy Bevenour (Camden-Wyoming, DE) had four saves in the loss, while Lady Charger Rosa Centurion (Mamaroneck, NY) had two saves in the win.
With the win, DC improves to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in the CACC, while WC falls to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Bloomfield College in CACC action. Game time is slated for 4pm.
