Dominican Lady Chargers Play to 1-1 Tie With Dowling Golden Lions

Blauvelt, NY (9/28/06)      The Dominican College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with the Dowling College Golden Lions this afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.

Dowling opened up the scoringat 31:33  as Vanessa Moreira (Selden, NY) dribbled passed the DC defense and put the ball past the Lady Charger keeper.

Dominican tied the game two minutes later as senior Stacey Ryan (Mahopac, NY) converted a penalty kick.

The Golden Lions outshot the Lady Chargers 20-4.  Dominican keeper Valentina Sturchio (Stewartsville, NJ) had 12 saves.

Dowling's record now stands at 3-6-2 overall, while the Lady Chargers are 2-7-2.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when the travel to Philadelphia University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game scheduled for 12:00 pm.
