Philadelphia, Pa. (4/26/14)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team, the second seed in the North Division, fell to the Philadelphia University Rams, the top seed in the South Division, 21-11, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semifinal Game played at the CHC Campus Field.

The Rams began the game with a 5-0 run to take a 5-0 advantage with just under 20 minutes remaining in the first half.

DC came charging back with three consective goals as freshman Haliann Fitzergald (Walden, N.Y.) netted a goal off the pass from junior Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.).  Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.) followed with a free position goal and Smithwick scored her first goal of the game to make the score 5-3 with 11:30 left in the first half.

Two more Philadelphia goals regained a 7-3 lead, but a 2-0 Lady Charger run with goals from Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) and Fitzgerald, with assists awarded to Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Brennan to bring Dominican within two goals with just over seven minutes left in the half.  Philadelphia closed out the first half with a 5-1 run to hold an 11-6 lead at the break.

Philadelphia outscored Dominican, 10-5 in the second half en route to the 21-11 win.

Smithwick led the Lady Charger offense with three game goals and one assist.

Fitzgerald, Sparaco and Brennan each finished with two game goals, with Brennan adding an assist.

Murray and senior Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) each scored one goal and Murray added an assist.

Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made eight saves in the loss.

With the loss, the Lady Chargers end their season with an overall record of 10-7 and had a conference record of 8-4.
