Hillburn, N.Y. (4/22/14)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team completed the series sweep of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division foe, Caldwell College, after posting a 23-4 victory today on Senior Day at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

Before the game, the team honored seniors: #1 Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.), #10 Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, N.Y.) #12 Caitlin Murray* (Oakdale, N.Y.) in a ceremony.

The Lady Chargers opened the game with three goals in the first seven minutes and forty seconds.  Leading 6-4 with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half, DC went on a 9-0 run to pull ahead 15-4 at the intermission.

Dominican continued on their run in the second half as they accounted for all of the offense with eight unanswered runs en route to the 23-4 victory.

Juniors Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.) and Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) led Dominican as they each scored four goals, with Sparaco adding two assists.

Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.), Muniz and Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) all scored three goals a-piece as Brennan had a team leading three assists and Barbarite had two assists.

Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) and Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) each contributed two goals, while Fitzgerald acquired two assists and Murray added one assist.

Amber June (Stony Point, N.Y.) and Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) accounted for the other two Lady Chargers goals.  Dascher had two assists, while June had one assist.

Sophomore goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made four saves.

With the win, Dominican improves to 9-6 overall and 8-4 in CACC play.
