Verona, N.J. (4/12/14) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team won their seventh straight game this evening after defeating host, Caldwell College, 24-5, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played at Centennial Field.
With the win, Dominican improves to 7-4 overall and 6-2 in CACC play.
DC opened the game with a 4-0 run, before back-to-back Cougar goals cut the lead to 4-2 with 15:51 left in the first half. From there the Lady Chargers went on an 11-1 run to take a 15-3 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Chargers opened the scoring with a 5-0 run and later closed the game with the last four goals en route to the 24-5 victory.
Sophomore Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) led Dominican with six goals.
Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.) had a career high five goals and one assist for a total of six game points.
Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.) and Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) scored three goals and one assist a-piece, while Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.), Katie Dascher (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) all scored two goals each in the win.
Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) had a team leading three assists and one goal.
Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made four saves.
The Lady Chargers are slated to be in action on Monday afternoon as they host Georgian Court University at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
