Bear, Del. (4/2/14)  The Dominican College women's lacrosse team upended, host Wilmington University, 14-11, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at Red Lion Christian Academy.

Juniors Gina Sparaco (Freeport, N.Y.) and Allison Smithwick (Commack, N.Y.) led the Lady Charger offense on the day as they each scored four goals.

Kelly Barbarite (Smithtown, N.Y.) had two game goals, while Haliann Fitzgerald (Walden, N.Y.), Traci-Joan Muniz* (Middlesex, N.J.), Christina Brennan (Washington Township, N.J.) and Shayne Gallagher (Blauvelt, N.Y.) all scored one goal a piece.

Emily Murray (Oakdale, N.Y.) had a team leading two assists in the win, with Fitzgerald and Olivia Antonopoulos (Baldwin, N.Y.) having one assist each.

Goalie Brittany Kiernan (Clarkstown, N.Y.) made four saves in the net.

The Lady Chargers out shot the 'Cats 31-21 and had the advantage 15-12 in draw controls.  WU amassed more ground balls in the contest, 31-27.

Dominican took control of the offense early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead five minutes into the game and held a 7-5 advantage at the intermission.

Ahead 9-7 with 19:25 remaining, DC put together a 2-0 spur to exten their lead to 11-7 and went on to the 14-11 win.

With the victory, DC improves to 2-4 overall and 2-0 in CACC play.
