SECOND QUARTER TRIPS UP LADY CHARGERS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/15/17)  The Dominican College women's basketball team held a 25-13 lead after one quarter of play, but were outscored 16-3 in the second frame which led the Post University Eagles to a 56-52 victory tonight in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest held on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

Tonight was the Lady Chargers annual Think Pink Game.  The team sold t-shirts and bracelets thoughout the night's double-header and will donate all of the proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Dominican (10-16, 10-7 CACC) opened the contest with the first six points and used a 13-6 charge to take a 25-13 advantage at the end of one quarter.

The Lady Charger offense went cold in the second quarter as they were outscored 16-3 as the Eagles turned the table and held a 29-28 edge at the intermission.

DC would rally in the third quarter to take a six-point lead (39-33) on two free throws from freshman Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) and would lead 43-42 going into the final 10 minutes of play.

A jumper from junior guard Rebecca Rabeiro (Midland Park, N.J.) put Dominican up 52-51 with 2:16 on the clock, but the Eagles would end the game going 5-6 from the charity stripe to secure the 56-52 win.

Rabeiro led all scorers with 19 points and a career high nine steals in the loss.

Senior Lisa Bouffard (Wallkill, N.Y.) netted 10 points and a team best five rebounds, while Jacqueline Rywalt (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.) tallied a team high four assists.

The Lady Chargers will host Nyack College this coming Saturday in a CACC North Division battle in their final home game of the season.
