LADY CHARGERS END LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER MERCY COLLEGE

Dobbs Ferry, NY (2/6/12)  The Dominican College women's basketball team ended a three game losing streak with a non-conference road victory over Mercy College, 75-55, this evening in a game played at Mercy Gymnasium.  With the victory, the Lady Chargers improves to 10-10 overall, while Mercy falls to 2-19 on the season.

Dominican took a 6-0 lead in the first 51 seconds of the contest and extended the lead to 17-9 on a trey by guard Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) with 10:33 to go before the break.  The Lady Chargers led by as many as 21 points (40-19) and held a 40-23 lead at halftime.  DC limited the Mavericks to shooting just 17.1% (6-35) from the floor, compared to their 46.9 (15-32).

A 19-7 run to start the second half put the Lady Chargers ahead 59-30 lead with 14:25 to play and they never looked back en route to the 75-55 victory.

Lopez led all scorers and four Lady Chargers in double figures with 18 points and five assists.  KC Jentzen (Nanuet, NY) was one of three players to post double-doubles for Dominican as she came off the bench to net 12 points and 13 rebounds.  Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) and Marley Klunk (York, PA) each scored 11 points and grabbed 10 boards in the victory.

DC out rebounded MC, 51-34, while shooting 47.3% (26-55) from the floor to Mercy's 23.4% (15-64).

Dominican is in action again on Thursday evening when they host, Nyack College, in a CACC North Division clash slated to begin at 6pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
