LADY CHARGERS CHARGE PAST EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY AT ECAC HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Caldwell, NJ (12/19/09)  The Dominican College women's basketball team charged past East Stroudsburg University, 73-46 this afternoon at the ECAC Holiday Classic being hosted by Caldwell College.

ESU had an early 9-8 lead with 13-28 remaining in the first half when the Lady Chargers went on a 21-2 tear over the next 11 minutes to take a 29-11.  DC closed out the first stanza outscoring the Warriors 10-1 for a 39-12 halftime lead.

DC continued to dominate in the second half as they never relinqushed a double-digit lead and led by as many as 28 points en route to the 73-46 victory.

Freshman guard Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) led the Lady Chargers with 12 points.  Sophomore Meghan Murphy (Carmel, NY) added nine points, while guard Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ), Samantha Klunk (York, PA) and Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) each netted eight points off the bench in the win.  Forward Marley Klunk (York, PA) also had a nice game off the bench for DC as she contributed seven points and grabbed a team leading eight rebounds.

After the game Lavelle was named the ECAC Player of the Game.

With the victory Dominican improves to 5-3 overall.

Dominican is scheduled to be back in action tomorrow at the ECAC Holiday Classic as they will take on Le Moyne College at 12 pm at the George R. Newman Center on the campus of Caldwell College.
