# 2 DOMINICAN TURNS BACK # 3 BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Orangeburg, NY (3/2/10)  The seconded seeded Lady Chargers of Dominican College turned back the third seeded Deacons of Bloomfield College, 81-68, this evening on Coach Baxter Court in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Quarter-Final game.

The Lady Chargers used a 12-26 performance (46.2%) from the three point line, including going 8-15 (53.3%) in the first half en route to a 42-39 advantage at the half.  BC held a 10-9 advantage with 16:17 left in the first half, but DC charged ahead with a 14-2 run to jump ahead 23-12.

The Deacons cut the deficit to three points early in the second half, but the Lady Chargers rebuilt a 60-52 lead with 9:28 to go in the contest.  A 16-9 spurt by Dominican increased the lead to 76-61 and they never looked back en route to the 81-68 victory.

Bloomfield was led by junior Robyn Burton (Capitol Heights, MD) and Milani Malik (Brooklyn, NY) who recorded 11 points each.  Senior Emily Horrocks (Milford, CT) and Jamilah Garrett (Egg Harbor, NJ) each had nine points in the loss.

Dominican was led by All-CACC Third Team selection, Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) who had a career high 30 points, which included 16 points in the first half.  Sophomore forward Marley Klunk (York, PA) netted 11 pionts and five rebounds, while freshman Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) netted 10 points.  Rookie Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ) had a great night off the bench with nine points and a game leading 11 caroms in the victory.

With the victory Dominican advances to the CACC semi-finals which will take place this coming Friday at Caldwell College.  DC will take on the top seed in the South Division, Holy Family University, Friday night at 5pm at the George R. Newman Center in Caldwell, NJ.
