WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWN NYACK COLLEGE

Nyack, NY (1/19/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated host Nyack College, 64-52, this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) at the Bowman Gymnasium.
Dominican took a 12-7 lead with 11:08 remaining in the first half on a jumper by senior guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) and extended their lead to 27-14 with 3:19 to go on a trey by freshman Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY). The Warriors were able to cut the deficit to ten points, 31-21 as time expired in the first half.
The Warriors were able to cut the lead to 34-25 early in the second half, but a 7-2 spurt by the Lady Chargers regained a 49-23 advantage and never looked back en route to the 64-52 victory.
Sainten led all scorers with 22 points and recorded four rebounds and two steals in the win. Lavelle finished with 12 points and five rebounds, while junior Shanice Scully (St. Albans, NY) tallied a team leading six rebounds.
Dominican improves to 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers return to the court on Thursday when they travel to CACC opponent, Felician College, for a 6pm game.
