Lady Chargers Earn Second Seed In ECAC Women's Basketball Tournament
Philadelphia, PA. The Philadelphia University womens basketball team will host the 2007 ECAC Division II Womens Basketball Tournament this upcoming weekend with the Lady Rams entering the two-day tournament as the top seed. In addition to the Lady Rams, the tournament will feature #2 seed Dominican College, #3 seed Adelphi University and #4 seed Molloy College.

Philadelphia, PA. The Philadelphia University women’s basketball team will host the 2007 ECAC Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament this upcoming weekend with the Lady Rams entering the two-day tournament as the top seed. In addition to the Lady Rams, the tournament will feature #2 seed Dominican College, #3 seed Adelphi University and #4 seed Molloy College.
The first-round match-ups will feature Philadelphia University hosting Molloy College at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9th, followed by #2 Dominican College meeting #3 Adelphi University at 7:00 p.m. The title game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, March 10th, at Philadelphia University.
For Philadelphia University, which enters the tournament with a 20-9 mark overall, it marks the 16th straight season with a postseason bid. Head Coach Tom Shirley’s team is led by seniors Meg Abele and Alisha Ferguson as the Lady Rams finished second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standings as well as runner-up in the conference tournament. Abele leads the CACC in scoring with 21.8 ppg and free throw percentage at 86.0%, earning first-team All-Conference honors for the second straight season. Ferguson was also a first-team All-Conference selection after setting a school record for single-season rebounds while adding a career-high 15.4 ppg. The Gwynedd Mercy (Pa.) Academy product tops the league in rebounding with 13.3 caroms per contest which also ranks second in the nation.
Dominican College, also a member of the CACC, enters the tournament with a 19-9 overall record while Adelphi University and Molloy College, members of the East Coast Conference (ECC), ended the regular season with respective marks of 16-13 and 15-13 overall.
