#5 Goldey-Beacom College Upends #4 Dominican Lady Chargers, 71-49
Blauvelt, NY (2/28/07) The fifth seeded Goldey-Beacom College Lightning upset #4 Dominican College Lady Chargers, 71-49 this evening in a quarter-final game of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Coach Baxter Court. With the win, the Lightning improve to 18-10 overall and advance to the CACC Semi-Finals to be played on Friday at 2pm hosted by Dominican College.

Dominican held only one lead in the game as freshman Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) hit a lay up for a 6-4 lead. GBC tied the game on a jumper by Cherrise Graham (Philadelphia, PA) and took the lead on another jumper by junior Toni Jones (Rehoboth Beach, DE). GBC lead by as many as 13 in the first half, but DC cut the lead to six on a last second lay up by Laskwoski for a 32-26 halftime score.
The Lightning opened up the second half with an 8-1 run to extend their lead to 40-27 and never looked back en route to the 71-49 victory. GBC out shot the Lady Chargers 41.0% (25-61) to 27.7% (18-65). The Lightning out rebounded DC 51-38.
GBC was led by Graham who exploded for 36 points and eight rebounds. Jones finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Kim Rowley (Dover, DE) scored 13 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
The Lady Chargers were led by junior Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) with 18 points. Laskowski scored 10 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) had eight points, six rebounds and four steals in the loss. Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) had a game leading seven rebounds while senior Jackie Tracey-Spitaleri (Bronx, NY) had a game leading seven assists.
With the loss, the Lady Chargers end their season with a 19-9 record.
