ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose women’s volleyball team took a pair of non-conference matches as they hosted a tri-meet with Dominican College and Molloy College at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium Saturday.

ALBANY– The Collegeof Saint Rosewomen’s volleyball team took a pair of non-conference matches as they hosted a tri-meet with DominicanCollegeand MolloyCollegeat Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium Saturday.

The Golden Knights (3-0) continued to serve the ball superbly, collecting 19 aces in the match en route to a 3-0 (30-19, 30-11, 30-24) victory over the Lady Chargers. Junior middle hitter Sally Munter (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) led the way with 12 kills and four aces, while freshman middle hitter Jaclyn Griffin (Glen Mills, PA/Penncrest) hit double digits in kills with 10.

 

In the second match, Saint Rose defeated Molloy College, 3-0 (30-15, 30-20, 30-13), as junior outside hitter Stephanie Brink(Port Ewen, NY/Kingston) notched 10 kills. Freshman defensive specialist Ashlee DeVito (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) served up seven of the Golden Knights’ 12 aces, and led the team with nine digs in the match.

 

The day’s third match was also decided in three games as MolloyCollegetook a 3-0 (30-23, 30-28, 30-21) victory over DominicanCollege. Junior outside hitter Diann Drury (Bellmore, NY/John F. Kennedy) led both teams with 14 kills to go with eight digs. Junior middle hitter Angela Barra (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) had 11 kills and six blocks up front.

 

The Lady Chargers had a good overall performance from sophomore outside hitter Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY/North Rockland) who registered 17 digs and seven kills. Sophomore setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY/Minisink Valley) provided the offense with 68 assists.

 

The Golden Knights will open the Northeast-10Conference schedule when they play host to Le Moyne College at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium at 7:00 pmon Wednesday.
