WOMEN'S TRACK OPEN SEASON AT WESLEYAN INVITATIONAL III

Middletown, Conn. (2/1/14)  The Dominican College women's track and field team opened up the 2014 season today at the Wesleyan Invitational III hosted by Wesleyan University.

Krystal Campbell (New Windsor, N.Y.) had the top finish for DC as the took third place in the mile run with a time of 5:53.67.  Karen Acevedo (Middletown, N.Y.) also competed in the event and finished in 11th place with a time of 6:30.55.  Emily Lopez (Staten Island, N.Y.) ran the event in a time of 6:41.88 to finish in 13th place.

Junior Renee Roncace (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) finished in fourth place in the 600m with a time of 1:50.79.

Kadijah Cox (New Milford, N.J.) took sixth place in the 200m dash with a time of 27.84.  Rookie Erica Pate (Bronx, N.Y.) ran a time of 29.66 to finish in 15th place, while Catherine Ortiz (Middletown, N.Y.) finished in 26th place with a time of 32.62.

In the 400m event, senior Jessica Avila (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) ran a time of 1:11.39 to finish in seventh place.

The team of Avila, Roncace, Cox and Pate competed in the 4 X 400 relay where they took fifth place with a time of 4:35.74.
