Bloomfield, NJ (4/14/11) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked fourth in the latest NCAA East Region Rankings, split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon at Clark Field. Bloomfield won game one, 3-2, while the Lady Chargers won the second game, 4-0.

Bloomfield, NJ (4/14/11) The Dominican College softball team, currently ranked fourth in the latest NCAA East Region Rankings, split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Bloomfield College, in games played this afternoon at Clark Field. Bloomfield won game one, 3-2, while the Lady Chargers won the second game, 4-0.
Game One: Bloomfield held a 2-0 lead after four innings of play when DC struck for two runs in the top of the fifth. Junior Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) hit a one-out double and centerfielder Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) walked to put two runners on base. Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) followed with an RBI single and Julie Plante (Swansea, MA) hit an RBI ground out to second to tie the contest at 2-2. The game-winning run for the Deacons was scored on a DC fielding error. Dominican had the game-tying run in scoring position in the seventh, but were unable to score.
Junior Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) took the loss (8-5), allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and three strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican rallied in game two with a three-run top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Martinez hit a bases loaded RBI single to plate a run and Plante later followed with a two out two-run double.
The Lady Chargers added a run in the fourth on a RBI single off the bat of Plante for the 4-0 victory.
Childers got the complete game shut-out victory, scattering five hits and collecting seven strikeouts to improve to 11-4 on the season.
Plante went 2-4 in game two with three RBIs, while Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) also collected two hits.
With the split Dominican now stands at 19-11 overall and are 9-3 in conference play.
