Dominican Softball Splits CACC Double Header With Post University 

Blauvelt, NY (4/20/07)  The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header with visiting Post University this afternoon at the DC Softball Field.  Post won the first game 7-6, but DC rallied to win the second game 8-6.

DC had a 5-0 lead until the top of the third when the Eagles scored four runs and added three runs in the sixth to take the 7-6 lead.

Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) and Jamie Ollari (Hopactong, NJ) each had two hits in the loss and a combined three RBIs.

Lady Charger starter Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) suffered the loss in 4 1/3, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks.

In the night cap, Dominican trailed 5-1 until the bottom of the sixth, when they exploded for five runs as Ollari had a key two out double to left to score two runs to take the 6-5 lead.

Trailing 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh, Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) was hit by a pitch  with one out and senior Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ) took an 0-1 pitch over the left field fence for the 8-6 victory.

Stathes got the win in one inning of relief.
