Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (4/22/18) The Dominican College men's track and field team finished in fourth place at the Vassar Invitational held yesterday at Weinber Track.
Senior Jovan Zigic (Burnaby, British Columbia) took the top spot in the 800m run with a time of 1:59.26. Cameron Whitton (Monroe, N.Y.) finished in 13th place with a time of 2:08.84 and David Jeffers (Florida, N.Y.) ran a time of 2:38.28 to finish in 17th place.
Junior Darren Guzman (Teaneck, N.J.) competed in the 1500m run where he finished in 19th place with a time of 4:45.09, while Oscar Vidal (New City, N.Y.) took 21st place with a time of 4:55.04. Nicholas Beutel (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) ran a time of 5:04.05 to finish in 22nd place.
Pierre also competed in the 200m dash where he finished in fourth place with a time of 23.31 and Roadarmel finished in 12th place with a time of 24.93.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Cruz, Whitton, Ryan McKivergan (New City, N.Y.) and Merced took third place with a time of 3:31.33.
Savonn Maye (Springfield, N.J.) competed in the long jump and tied for second place with a jump of 6.27m (20 feet, 6.85 inches).
George Psarakis (Monroe, N.Y.) took 8th place in the hammer throw with a throw of 27.63m (90 feet, 7.79 inches) and 10th place in the discus throw with a throw of 29.59m (97 feet, 0.95 inches). He also competed in the shot put and finished seventh with a throw of 10.19m (33 feet, 5.18 inches).
In the javelin throw, Connor Croke (Watertown, Conn.) finished in eighth place with a throw of 37.15m (121 feet, 10.59 inches).
