MEN'S SOCCER FALL IN OVERTIME TO NYACK COLLEGE

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/5/16)  The Dominican College men's soccer team fell 1-0 in overtime to Nyack College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) clash played at the DC Soccer Field.

The first half saw 11 total shots, with Nyack having the 6-5 edge and a combined six corner kicks (4-2 Dominican).

The second frame featured four corner kicks (2-2) and nine total shots (5-4 Nyack).  Freshman Sergio Monton (Madrid, Spain) took a shot in the 86th minute that was saved and the Warriors had a chance in the 89th minute that went wide to force the overtime.

In the overtime period, the Warriors had two shots, one was saved by Charger keeper Steven Hegner (Pomona, N.Y.) and the other went wide, before the team had back-to-back corner kicks.  On the second corner kick, the Warriors were able to one-touch the ball into the lower left corner of the net for the 1-0 victory.

Nyack had a 14-9 advantage in shots, while both teams had six corner kicks.

Hegner finished with four saves in the loss.

Dominican (4-7, 3-3 CACC) will host Goldey-Beacom College this coming Saturday at the DC Soccer Field.
