2009 Dominican College Men's Lacrosse Season Summary
The Dominican College men's lacrosse program finished the 2009 season with a 2-12 record and an East Coast Conference (ECC) record of 0-6. DC completed their third season in the tough ECC Conference, going up against the toughest teams in the country including, New York Institute of Technology, Mercyhurst College and the 2009 National Champions, C.W. Post University.
The Chargers won their first game of the season against American International College, 17-7 and followed with a second non-conference victory over Farmingdale State, 17-6.
Senior Jeremy Arcaro led the team with 29 goals and finished second with 11 assists for a team leading 40 points. He finished 8th in the ECC in goals per game (2.07) and 9th in shots per game (6.23).
Sophomore Jesse Peterson led the team with 16 assists and finished 10th in the ECC in assists per game (1.07). Dave Marrese led the team with 69 ground balls and finished 5th in the ECC in ground balls per game (4.93).
Freshman Korin Pierce had a fine rookie campaign, finishing second in goals (21) an third in assists (8) for a total of 29 points. Fellow rookie, Gabe Sutherland netted 20 goals and seven assists for 27 points.
Goalie Brendan Bonacum had 207 saves for a .538 save percentage in 14 games in the net. Tim Manzella had 27 saves for a .600 percentage in nine games played.
The Chargers will graduate four players this year, but will return for the 2010 season with a strong nucleus of talented players.
