MEN'S LACROSSE FALL TO #5 MERCYHURST COLLEGE
Erie, PA (4/4/09) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell to #5 Mercyhurst College Lakers, 16-4 this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) men's lacrosse action at Tullio Field.
Erie, PA (4/4/09) The Dominican College men's lacrosse team fell to #5 Mercyhurst College Lakers, 16-4 this afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) men's lacrosse action at Tullio Field.
The Lakers took control in the first quarter, outscoring DC 6-1. The lone Charger goal was scored by senior attacker Jeremy Arcaro (New Windsor, NY). Mercyhurst continued to dominate the offense in the second quarter after Arcaro netted his second goal off the dish by sophomore Jesse Peterson (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) to cut the lead to 6-2. MC went on a 3-0 run to cruise in to the half with a 9-2 lead.
Mercyhurst opened up the third quarter with a goal, before DC went on a 2-0 run as Arcaro struck again for the hat trick from a pass from Sean Murphy (Pearl River, NY) and freshman Gabe Sutherland (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) netted a goal of the assist by Andrew Rendine (River Edge, NJ) to make the score 10-4. The Lakers closed out the game with a 6-0 run as they went on to the 16-4 victory.
Arcaro led the team with three goals for three points, while Sutherland, Rendine, Murphy and Peterson each had one point. Brendan Bonacum (Port Jefferson Station, NY) had 15 saves in 55:00, while Tim Manzella (Riverhead, NY) had two saves in the last five minutes.
With the win Mercyhurst improves to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the ECC, while Dominican falls to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the ECC.
