Chargers Lacrosse Turn Back Franklin Pierce College, 11-7

Blauvelt, NY (4/25/07) The Dominican College Chargers lacrosse team defeated Franklin Pierce College, 11-7 in a non-conference game held at the DC Lacrosse Field.
The Ravens held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter and a 4-3 lead at halftime, but the Chargers rallied for four goals in the third quarter and four more in the fourth for the 11-7 victory.
The lead went back and forth early in the third quarter, but DC took the lead with 0:40 left in the third quarter as Owen Smith III (Cornwall, NY) found the net off the pass by Remo Montalbano (Saugerties, NY) to go up 7-6. Dominican went on a 4-1 run en route to the 11-7 victory.
Smith led the Chargers with three goals and three assists, while Alex Jones (St. Albert, AB) scored two goals and three assists. Six other Chargers netted a goal, while Francisco Silva (Port Washington, NY) had two assists and Montalbano also had an assist.
The Ravens were led by Rooney with three goals and one assist. Michael Willis (Hingham, MA) had two goals in the loss.
Joe Assante (Weston, NY) had 10 saves in the win, while Ben Lek had seven saves in the loss.
With the win, DC improves to 4-7 overall, while FPC falls to 3-10 overall.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday, April 28th when they host St. Michael’s College. Game time is 1pm at the DC Lacrosse Field on Senior Day.
