Clinton enters his eighteenth year as the head coach of the Chargers with a 249-256 career record. He has led the program to three CACC Championships and four twenty-win seasons. He is a three-time recipient of the CACC Coach of the Year Award and is a past recipient of the All-Met Coach of the Year Award. Prior to Dominican’s membership in the NCAA, Clinton guided two teams to the NAIA National Tournament.
During the 1995-1996 season, Coach Clinton led
his team to its best record since 1975-1976, finishing 22-9 overall
and earned the program's first NAIA nationally top 25
ranking. He was named the CACC Coach of the Year, the All-Met
Coach of the Year and the CACC Administrator of the Year following
the season.
In addition to his coaching duties, Clinton is
also Dominican’s Director of Athletics and director of the
highly successful Dominican College Boys and Girls Basketball Camps
and Clinics. In 1996, he was recognized as the CACC Administrator
of the Year.
Clinton spent his collegiate career at Union
College (NY) where he scored over a thousand points and earned a BA
in English in 1983. As a scholastic player, he was a star point
guard at Albertus Magnus High School (NY) and is in his alma
mater’s Hall of Fame.
Coach Clinton and his wife, Marybeth, have five
children: Tara, Joey, Laura, Kelly and Erin. He and his family
reside in Pearl River, NY.

Associate Head Coach: Tony Toapha
Coach Toapha is entering his eleventh year on
the Charger staff. He is a Dominican College graduate and former
player, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1985 in business
administration. He was a member of the first team to advance to the
NAIA National Tournament and was inducted into the Dominican
College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997 as a member of the 1980-1981
team.
He was also a two year captain of the men’s basketball team
and was given a Dominican College 50th Anniversary Medal in 2002
for his significant impact on the development of the athletic
program.
Coach Toapha has worked in many summer
basketball camps including the prestigious 5 Star Basketball
Camp.
Assistant Coach: Jim Sayre
Coach Sayre enters his second season with the Dominican College Chargers basketball team.
Sayre comes to Dominican College from Suffern High School where he has coached for the last 12 years. He compiled a 120-107 career record with the Mounties and won three league championships. He was named Coach of the year three times and was the 2006 Journal News Coach of the Year after guiding his team to the 2006 Class AA Finals.
A graduate of Slippery Rock University, he holds a bachelor's degree in Health/Physical Education. He went on to get his master's degree in Multicultural Education from Iona College. He is employed as a physical education teacher in the Washingtonville School District.
Sayre currently resides in Garnerville, NY with his wife, Wendi, and his children, Tyler and Alexa.
Assistant Coach: James Gray
Coach Gray enters his first year on the Charger coaching staff, after being a member of the team from 2001-2006.
Assistant Coach: Steven Diaz
Coach Diaz also enters his first year on staff.
Diaz will be primarily responsible for pre-season workouts and team conditioning.
Manager: Mike Coffey
Coffey enters his second year as a manager for the Chargers.
Coffey graduated from Pearl River High School where he was the manager for the boys' basketball team.
