Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/13/17) The Dominican College men's basketball squad topped host, Nyack College, 72-58, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played in Bowman Gym. With the win, Dominican improves to 16-9 overall and 11-5 in conference play.
Junior Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led three Chargers in double figures with the game's only double-double of 16 points (7-9 from the floor) and 11 boards.
In the win, freshman guard Jonathan Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) netted a career high 15 points (7-9 from the floor) and added five rebounds.
Guard Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) tallied 14 points (4-9 from the three point arc) and a team high four assists.
Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) contributed seven boards and eight points.
The Chargers held a slim 19-18 advantage with 6:48 to go in the first half when they charged ahead by going on a 21-0 tear to claim a 40-18 advantage en route to a 40-20 halftime lead.
DC would lead by as many as 28 points late in the second half as they went on to the victory.
Dominican will return home on Wednesday night as they host Post University.
