SECOND HALF RALLY LEADS CLIPPERS PAST CHARGERS
Bronxville, NY (1/18/12) The Concordia College women's basketball team rallied from a nine point deficit to defeat the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 76-73, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Meyer Athletic Center. Dominican had four players to score in double figures in the contest.
Bronxville, NY (1/18/12) The Concordia College women's basketball team rallied from a nine point deficit to defeat the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 76-73, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Meyer Athletic Center. Dominican had four players to score in double figures in the contest.
The game was tied at 12-12 with 14:55 left in the first half, when the Chargers went on a 12-4 run to go up, 24-16. Concordia cut the lead to a point with 5:22 to play before the break , but the Chargers scored the next nine consecutive points to increase the lead to 39-29 and held a 41-32 advantage at the intermission.
DC led by as many as 12 points (46-34) early in the second half and held a 57-47 lead when Concordia went on a 10-0 run to tie the game at 57-all. With the game tied at 71-71 with 1:46 to play in regulation, a three point basket by the Clippers game them a 74-71 lead. Dominican cut the lead to a point when Tyler Stradford (Stten Island, NY) netted a layup with 56 seconds left. A Charger foul led to two free throws by the Clippers and the 76-73 victory.
Guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led four Chargers in double figures with 20 points and six assists. Center Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) had the game's only double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) and A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, NY) also added 14 points a piece in the loss.
With the loss Dominican falls to 9-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday when they travel to CACC opponent, Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 3pm.
