MEN'S BASKETBALL EDGES POST UNIVERSITY IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Waterbury, CT (1/5/12) The Dominican College men's basketball team edged host, Post University, 74-73, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the win Dominican improves to 9-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Dominican held a slight 25-24 advantage with 6:19 remaining in the first half when the Chargers went on a 6-0 run, with back-to-back buckets by Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) to caim a 31-24 lead at the break.
The Chargers increased the lead to a 10 point margin (39-29) with 12:29 to go on a layup by A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, NY), but the Eagles came back to later tie the contest at 52-52 with 3:15 to play.
Post held a 57-53 lead with 22 seconds left in regulation, but a layup by Cory Quimby* (Otisville, NY) and a Leon Porter II* (Laurel, MD) steal which lead to a layup by Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, NY) made the score 57-57 and forced overtime.
The first overtime saw the score seesaw back-and-forth until the Eagles took a three point lead, all on free-throws. Porter came up big with a three point basket with 0:24 left in the first overtime to tie the game at 67-67 and force a second overtime period.
Post once again led by three with under a minute to play in the second overtime, but Quimby scored a layup to cut the lead to a single point (73-72) with 43 seconds to go and Porter hit the game winning jumper with 23 ticks on the clock for the 74-73 win.
Quimby led three Chargers in double figures and tallied his nation leading 10th double-double of the season with 19 points and a season high 16 rebounds, while also having three blocks. Porter finished with 15 points and four steals, while Brown scored 14 points and six rebounds in the win.
DC is back in action next Tuesday evening, when they host CACC North Division opponent, Bloomfield College in a 6pm game to be played on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennssy Center.
