MEN'S BASKETBALL GO UNDEFEATED AT 6TH ANNUAL JAMES CLANCY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
Orangeburg, NY (1/3/12) The Dominican College men's basketball team closed out the 6th Annual James Clancy Memorial Tournament with a 55-52 victory over Queens College this evening on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. With the victory Dominican was the only team go to 2-0 in the tournament. In the first game of the night, Dowling College defeated Post University, 63-57.

The Chargers led by as many as seven points three different times during the first period. DC jumped out to an early 11-4 lead with just over 14 minutes left and was up 20-13 with 6:18 on the clock. A layup by center Cory Quimby* (Otisville, NY) put Dominican ahead 22-15 with 4:59 to go and held on to a 23-22 advantage at the break.
The Knights came back in the second half and held a 48-44 lead with 5:01 left in regulation. The Chargers charged back with an 8-2 run with four points coming from Quimby and four points coming from Leon Porter II* (Laurel, MD) to re-claim a 52-50 lead with 1:14 on the clock.
Queens went 2-2 from the charity stripe to tie the game with 46 ticks left, but sophomore guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) hit the game winning trey off the pass from Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, NY) to lift DC to the 55-52 victory.
Quimby led the Chargers with the game's only double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Brown finished with seven points, while Porter had a team leading five assists in the victory.
Following the win, the Chargers now stand at 8-4 overall.
The first game of the night saw Dowling College defeat Post University, 63-57 behind a 17 point performance from Michael Hill.
DC is back in action on Thursday evening when they travel to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division foe, Post University, for an 8pm game.
