GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE RALLIES TO DEFEAT CHARGERS BASKETBALL
Wilmington, DE (12/10/11) The Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team rallied with a strong second half performance to defeat the visiting Dominican College men's basketball team, 76-74, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Joseph West Jones Center. With the loss, Dominican falls to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the CACC.
Wilmington, DE (12/10/11) The Goldey-Beacom College men's basketball team rallied with a strong second half performance to defeat the visiting Dominican College men's basketball team, 76-74, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played at the Joseph West Jones Center. With the loss, Dominican falls to 5-3 overall and 1-3 in the CACC.
The game was tied at 15-15 with 13:38 to play in the first half when the Chargers went on a 12-0 tear to take a 27-15 lead and went into the break with a 45-29 advantage.
Dominican increased their lead to 21 points (52-31) early in the second half when the Lightning came back with a 24-12 run to cut the deficit to 66-57 with just under seven minutes to go. DC had a 73-69 lead with 51 seconds on the clock, but GBC once again came back with a 6-1 run to go up 75-74 and came away with the 76-74 victory.
Junior center Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) led three Chargers in double figures with the game's only double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) came off the bench to score 12 points and five rebounds, while guard Leon Porter II* (Laurel, MD) netted 11 points and a game leading 11 assists.
DC is back in action on December 17th when they travel to take on non-conference opponent, St. Thomas Aquinas College. Game time is slated for 3pm.
