QUIMBY HITS GAME-WINNER AS CHARGERS BASKETBALL DEFEATS ASSUMPTION COLLEGE

Dominican opened the contest with an 8-0 run as senior Michael Calzonetti* (Gloucester, NJ) and guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) hit back-to-back three point baskets with 17:26 remaining in the first half. DC led 20-15 with just over ten minutes left when the Greyhounds scored nine straight points to take a 24-20 advantage. The Chargers closed out the half with the last four points to trail 37-35 at the intermission.
With 2:44 left in the game, Dominican trailed 76-68 when Quimby went on a 8-0 tear with a layup, two free throws and back-to-back buckets to tie the game for the seventh time at 76-76 with 47 ticks left in regulation. An Assumption turnover gave DC the opportunity to call time out with seven seconds left and Quimby nailed the game-winning basket off the pass from guard Leon Porter II* (Laurel, MD) as time expired for the 78-76 victory.
Quimby led all scorers and one of three Chargers in double figures with a career high 26 points. He completed the game's only double-double by adding another career high of 14 rebounds in the win.
Porter had a strong second half to finish with 17 points and a game high nine assists. Forward DaVonne Dunlap (Kingston, NY) scored 12 points and had a game leading four steals.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow night as they take on host, Pace University, at 8pm in the finale of the Pace University Tip-Off Classic.
