GINYARD NAMED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Orangeburg, NY (11/22/10) Dominican College men's basketball player, Khaleev Ginyard, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 21st as was announced by the conference office today. Nik Otovic of Caldwell College has been named the CACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Orangeburg, NY (11/22/10)  Dominican College men's basketball player, Khaleev Ginyard, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 21st as was announced by the conference office today.  Nik Otovic of Caldwell College has been named the CACC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Ginyard, a 5-8 freshman guard from Brentwood, N.Y., averaged 15.5 points and 2.0 assists per-game in two contests last week. He shot 9-for-21 (.429) from three-point range for the week. He tallied 18 points, four assists and two rebounds in a loss to St. Martin's, shooting 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.

Otovic, a 6-1 junior guard from Kraljevo, Serbia, led the Cougars to a 2-0 week with averages of 21.0 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per-game while shooting 56.5-percent from the field. He poured in a career-high 25 points on 8-for-11 shooting (5-for-8 from distance) in a home-opening victory over New Haven.

Honorable Mention

Robert Owens, Wilmington (So., F, 6-5, Trenton, NJ) - In a 2-0 week, averaged 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per-game.

Will Eason, Concordia (Sr., C, 6-10, Springfield, PA) - Despite an 0-2 week, averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per-game.

Dan Comas, Chestnut Hill (Jr., C, 6-6, Philadelphia, PA) - Notched 23 points and seven rebounds in a victory over Bloomsburg. 

Terrence Parkes, Goldey-Beacom (Sr., F, 6-6, New Rochelle, NY) - Averaged 17.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per-game in a 1-1 week.

Tim Smith, Holy Family (Jr., G, 6-2, Philadelphia, PA) - In two contests, averaged 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per-game.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons went 1-1 over their two-game stretch this week, their victory coming in a non-conference home contest against the University of the District of Columbia. Senior guard Gage Daye averaged 24.5 points and 5.5 assists for the week, turning in a 22-point, 10-assist performance against UDC, and a game-high 27 points in the club's loss at AIC. Fellow senior Ryan Rodrigues averaged 13.5 points per game, turning in a 20-point performance against UDC. Junior forward Matt Wafula's 21 points provided the offense in the post for the Deacons in the victory over UDC. The forward averaged 14.5 points and four rebounds over the two-game week. Bloomfield's victory over UDC moved their home winning streak to 23 consecutive games, dating back to the 2008-2009 season.

Caldwell - The Cougars won both of their games last week, beating Mercy 77-75 on the road on Tuesday and handing New Haven an 88-70 defeat in the home opener on Saturday. Junior guard Anthony Gill hit a jumper with nine seconds remaining to lift Caldwell past Mercy. Junior guard Nik Otovic scored a game-high 17 points against Mercy, then poured in a career-best 25 points while hitting 5-of-8 from three-point range in the win over New Haven. The Cougars made 75.0 percent of their shots from the field in the second half of the New Haven victory. Caldwell does not play until beginning CACC play on Dec. 7 at Nyack.

Felician - Senior F Devon Young became Felician's all-time leading scorer during his team's season-opening loss to Pace on Nov. 13. His current total of 1,489 points surpasses the 1,439 of Sadot Williams from 2002-06. Sophomore G Anthony D. Green had 32 career points in 25 games before exploding for 18 in Saturday's victory at NYIT.

Goldey-Beacom - Senior swingman Sam McDuffie eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career on Saturday with his first basket of the day – a three-pointer. He becomes the fifth player in school history to reach that plateau.

Holy Family - On Wednesday, Holy Family picked up its first victory of the season with a 52-44 overtime win at Lincoln and in the process gave first year head coach John O'Connor his first career victory.  The Tigers scored the final ten points of the game in overtime to secure the victory.  Freshman Alberto Munoz came through with a clutch three pointer with 1:30 to play in overtime to give Holy Family a 47-44 advantage.  Against Clarion, junior Tim Smith scored a game-high 30 points after finishing 9-of-20 from the field and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.  Smith was also 8-of-8 from the free throw line and grabbed five boards and dished out six assists. Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 27 as the Tigers travel to Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C. for a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.

Philadelphia - The Rams put together a 2-1 week on the road as they competed in the Wolf's Bus Line Classic. Sophomore Jim Connolly racked up 46 points for the Rams across the three contests. PhilaU's schedule heats up as they travel to face West Chester on Tuesday (11/23) and return home Sunday (11/28) to face Millersville.

Post - The Eagles fewll to 0-3 this season after a 79-68 home loss to Bentley. The Eagles led midway through the second half, but could not contain the offensive firepower from Bentley's Sam LeClerc. This week, it is a home game against Le Moyne on Wednesday and the Eagles will host CW Post Sunday after Thanksgiving.
