MEN'S BASKETBALL LOSE TO NYACK COLLEGE

Nyack, NY (1/19/10)  The Dominican College men's basketball team fell to host Nyack College, 73-59, this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action from Bowman Gymnasium.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 12-2 lead with 15:51 remaining in the first half and extended their lead to 23-11 with 7:54 to go before the intermission.  DC cut the lead to five points on a jumpshot from freshman point guard Leon Porter (Laural, MD) to go into the break with a 30-25 deficit.

Nyack stayed hot in the second half, extending their lead to 44-27 with 17:03 and led 69-45 with just under six minutes to go in regulation.  Dominican outscored their opponents, 12-2 in the remaining 3:57 as the Warriors went on to the 73-59 victory.

Dominican struggled from the floor in the first half, shooting 10-26 (38.5%) and were 1-4 (25%) from the three point line.  The Chargers were a little better in the second half as they shot 13-32 (40.6%), but continued to struggle from beyond the three point arc as they went 0-9 to finish just 1-13 (7.7%) for the game.

Junior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) and Porter led the Chargers with 12 points each and Hodzic added a game leading 11 rebounds.  Senior Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) netted 11 points and six rebounds in the loss.

With the loss Dominican falls to 8-9 overall and 4-2 in the CACC. 

The Chargers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to CACC foe, Felician College for an 8pm game time.
