MEN'S BASKETBALL FALL AT PACE UNIVERSITY HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Pleasantville, NY (12/28/09) The Dominican College men's basketball team fell to Saint Michael's College, 68-65 this evening at the Pace University Holiday Classic held at the Goldstein Fit Center.
The Chargers held a 14-8 lead with 13:38 remaining in the first half when the Purple Knights went on a 7-2 run to tie the game at 15-15. DC rebuilt a four point lead (37-33) with 2:20 left in the first stanza but Saint Michael's answered back with a 4-0 spurt to tie the game, 37-37 at the intermission.
Saint Michael's opened up the second half with a 14-5 run to take a 51-45 lead and led by as many as 10 points (67-57) with 3:14 to go in regulation. The Chargers charged back with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 67-65 with 0:14 on the clock but they would not be able to get any closer as the Purple Knights converted one of two free throws for the final 68-65 victory.
Dominican had four players in double figures led by freshman guard Gerald Hill (Baltimore, MD) and center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) who each had 11 points with Hodzic adding a game leading 13 rebounds in the loss. Point guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) and senior Zach Huston (Binghamton, NY) each chipped in 10 points and combined for 10 rebounds, while senior Marquis Reddick (West Haven, CT) came off the bench to net eight points.
With the loss Dominican falls to 5-6 overall.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow when they take on host Pace University at 8pm in the Pace University Holiday Classic held at the Goldstein Fit Center.
