West Haven, CT (12/28/07) The Southern Connecticut State University Owls defeated the visiting Dominican College Chargers, 89-70 in non-conference men's basketball action at the Moore Field House this evening.
Preston Bell led the five Owls in double figures with 22 points. Ktrice McNeill netted 20 points off the bench, while Justin Gardenhire added 15 points and Devon Sullivan scored 10 points and eight rebounds. Starter John Mazzarella netted 11 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
Senior Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) and junior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) led the Chargers with 11 points a piece in the loss. Junior Henry Elegar (Bronx, NY) had 10 points for DC off the bench.
With the win SCSU improves to 8-6 on the year, while DC falls to 5-3 overall.
The Chargers are back in action on Sunday when they host the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in a non-conference game. Game time is 2pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
