CHARGERS BASKETBALL REACH .500 IN CACC WITH WIN OVER FELICIAN COLLEGE GOLDEN FALCONS

Lodi, NJ (2/19/08) The Dominican College men's basketball team defeated host Felician College Golden Falcons, 76-66 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's action.  With the win, Dominican improves to 12-13 overall and 7-7 in the CACC, while Felician falls to 9-16 overall and 3-12 in conference play.

The first half was a tight battle which saw seven ties and nine lead changes. The last five minutes saw a Charger 10-6 run to take a 35-31 lead into the intermission.

The second half started out with 13-5 Dominican run to take a 48-36 lead with just over sixteen minutes left in the game.  The Chargers would lead by as many as 22 points, 63-41, when the Golden Falcons soared back with a 17-4 to cut the lead to nine points, 67-58 with 4:20 left in regulation.  The DC lead would never be less then eight points in the final four minutes en route to the 76-66 victory.

Jason Romer led the Golden Falcons with 18 points and eight rebounds.  Rod Barrow netted 16 points, while Devon Young had 15 points in the loss.

Shooter Will Carty (Bronx, NY) led the Chargers with 18 points and five rebounds., shooting 5-7 from the floor.  Senior forward Shelton Gibbs (Jersey City, NJ) added 14 points and five rebounds, while freshman Kris Knez (Astoria, NY) scored 13 points and six caroms.  Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) grabbed a game leading nine boards in the win.  Freshman Tm Matchett (Pitman, NJ) scored 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Chargers will travel to CACC foe Golden-Beacom College this Saturday, February 23 at 3pm.
