HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY DEFEATS CHARGERS BASKETBALL

Blauvelt, NY (2/16/08)  The Dominican College Chargers dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball game to Holy Family University, 70-67 this afternoon on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.  With the win, Holy Family University improves to 17-8 overall and 10-4 in the CACC, while Dominican drops to 11-13 overall and 6-7 in the CACC.

The Tigers led by as many as seven points, 26-19 with 4:26 left in the first stanza when the Chargers charged back with a 13-5 run to take a 32-31 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, the lead changed sides five times before the Tigers took a 68-62 lead with 1:26 left in the game.  Dominican went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to one, 68-67 with 0:09 on the clock, but being forced to foul, Holy Family closed out the game with two free throws en route to the 70-67 victory.

Michael Sturns (Fort Worth, TX) led the way for the Tigers with 24 points.  Ryan Lancaster (Egg Harbor, NJ) netted 17 points, while Caezer Johnson (Monroe, LA) netted 13 points and six rebounds.  London Houston (Philadelphia, PA) had a game leading six blocks.

Dominican was led by junior guard Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) with 21 points and five rebounds off the bench.  Shooter Will Carty (Bronx, NY) netted 13 points in the loss.  

DC is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Felician College in CACC men's action.  Game time is 8pm.
