CHARGERS BASKETBALL LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT TO BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Bloomfield, NJ (2/2/08)  The visiting Dominican College Chargers dropped their third straight game this afternoon after losing to Bloomfield College, 80-76 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's action.

Dominican held a 33-27 led at the break, despite shooting 27.3% (3-11) from the charity stripe. DC led by as many as 11, 33-22 with 1:34 left in the half, but the Deacons closed out the half with a 4-0 run.

The Chargers built up a 13 point lead early in the second halfm only to see the Deacons rally to take a 53-50 lead with just over 11 minutes left in the game.  Dominican regained a four point lead iwth 7:11 to go but the Deacons battled back to take a six point lead with 4:43 and lead by as many as seven points with 1:27 left in the game.  Dc cut it to two points, 76-74 with 0:29 left, but Bloomfield hung on for the 80-76 victory.

Will Carty (Bronx, NY) led four Chargers in double figures with 13 points and five rebounds.  Damien Davis (Windsor, CT), Brandon Brock (Newburgh, NY) and Dato Sakvarelidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) each had 10 points in the loss, while Sakvarelidze had a team leading nine rebounds.

Gage Daye led the Deacons with 21 points, five rebounds and three assists.  Omari Knox netted the game's only double-double with 18 piotns and 11 rebounds, while Chris Sampson scored 16 points.  Roahn Sheppard chipped in 13 points and seven caroms.  

With the win Bloomfield improves to 12-11 overall and 3-6 in the CACC, while Dominican falls to 10-11 overall and 5-5 in the CACC.

Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they host CACC rival, Nyack College, on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.  Game time is 8pm.
