CHARGERS GOLF FINISH FOURTH AT CACC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Head Coach Wayne Mackey Named CACC Coach of the Year; Three Players Earn All-CACC Honors
Middletown, DE (4/16/08) The Dominican
College golf team finished fourth out of eleven teams at the
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships held at
Blackburn Golf Course.
The two day tournament which concluded yesterday was a par 71 course where after day one, DC was in fourth place with a team score of 316. Yesterday the team shot a 312 for a two day total of 628 (+60) for the fourth place finish behind Post University, Wilmington University and Goldey-Beacom College.
Freshman Thomas Lalonde (Red Hook, NY) finished second with a two day total of 151 (79, 72) to be nine strokes above par. Junior AJ Lee (Nanuet, NY) and senior Brian Mackey (Chestnut Ridge, NY) finished in a six-way tie for fifth placy with a total score of 154 (+12). Lee fired off rounds of 77 and 77, while Mackey shot a 78 and 76.
Sophomore Brian Kivlehan (Mahwah, NJ) finished in a three-way tie for 23rd place with a 169 +27) finish after shooting rounds of 82 and 87.
Head Coach Wayne Mackey was named the CACC Coach of the Year and Lalonde, Lee and Mackey were named to the 2008 All-CACC Golf Team which was announced following the Championships.
The golf team is back in action next week at the American International College Tournament to be held at the Springfield Golf Course.
